POINT-TO-POINT PROCESS

SWOOD CAM also offers various machining strategies such as the point-to-point process which provides full control over the production process by enabling machining tailored to the specific needs of each component. This approach ensures maximum precision, optimized material management, and greater flexibility to meet the most complex requirements. Ideal for custom productions, it guarantees consistent quality while optimizing lead times and resources.

Furthermore, our CAM software is designed to seamlessly adapt to CNC machines, integrating their specific technologies. Thus, SWOOD CAM efficiently connects design data to CNC machines, automatically generating machining programs and the necessary production documents, ensuring an efficient workflow.

Advanced Machining Strategy

  • Workshop production data
  • COMPLEX SHAPE CAPABILITIES
  • PRE-PRODUCTION SIMULATION
  • MACHINE COMPATIBILITY
  • WORKTABLE MANAGEMENT
  • CNC EDGEBANDING

From 3D projects to production data for the workshop, our manufacturing solution translates all project parameters for your woodworking machines.

Based on wood-specific machining strategies, our solution generates programs and workshop documents from design projects to optimize production.

Manage 3 to 5-axis programs according to your  project needs by easily creating roughing and finishing operations to program any shape.

Our in-house 5 axis algorithms for 3D milling allow to generate tool paths specific to woodworking.

Pre-production simulations allow you to preview the complete program with the material removal function and the machining environment to detect all potential collisions between head, table, tool, and workpiece, from stock to finished part.

SWOOD has developed privileged relationships with various machine manufacturers such as HOMAG, SCM, Biesse, Felder, Holzher and many others, facilitating the development and support of its post-processors as the result of this collaboration.

This expertise is concentrated in a solid database of post-processors which can then be customized by the many SWOOD experts around the world to meet the various technical requirements of CNC machines.

Such a development freedom makes it possible to meet the needs of any other brand of machine in the industry, thus answering the specific needs of each SWOOD user and their production process.

To guarantee the correct position of the holding systems before machining, SWOOD controls motorized machining tables: rail and pods, clamping systems, laser systems, and so on.

SWOOD now proposes a specific export for B-SOLID or WOODWOP to manage edgebands aggregate embedded on CNC machines.

Export all edgeband information in the same order created in SWOOD Design for:

  • B-SOLID, where profile polylines can be generated
  • WOODWOP, where the user can customize their own operation.

The user can access all operations, such as contour, pocket, drill, sawing, etc., and new edgeband aggregate operations for contour, blowing, gluing, flush trimming, scraping, etc.

This advancement offers a solution to streamline the edge banding process by automating it on CNC machines and improves production efficiency.

nesting PROCESS

SWOOD CAM also offers nesting as a machining strategy, providing an essential solution to optimize your production process. By intelligently utilizing each panel, this technology significantly reduces waste, optimizes cutting, and enhances manufacturing profitability. With an automated and optimized part layout, you gain time, reduce cost, and increase efficiency at every production stage, all this while minimizing your environmental impact.

Our CAM solution, SWOOD CAM, seamlessly integrates with CNC machines. Design data is directly connected to the machines, automatically generating machining programs and necessary production documents, ensuring a streamlined and efficient workflow.

Production Efficiency with Nesting Technology

  • project optimization
  • PART HOLDING STRATEGY
  • MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
  • AUTOMATIC NESTING RESULT
  • PANEL IDENTIFICATION

SWOOD Nesting is an add-on to SWOOD CAM that optimizes material usage, reduces machining time, and creates specific strategies to ensure a smooth nesting process.

From different projects, SWOOD optimizes panel nesting based on sizes, materials, colors, etc. to improve production processes.

Nesting-specific strategies ensure optimal part holding to prevent them from moving during milling.

  • Milling order is optimized starting from the smallest to the largest parts at the end of the program.
  • Automatic bridge insertion according to part size allows to link parts together, thus preventing them from leaving the nesting sheet.
  • A forbidden area is created to prevent the smallest components from being placed too close to the board's edges to maintain optimum suction on these parts.

Our nesting solution also offers strategies such as minimizing the cutting force with the onion skin strategy and using the staydown contour operation, which optimizes trajectories and saves up to 20% of the milling time.

Linked to the design solution, you can match several front parts grain direction of a project to facilitate their nesting and respect the project's aesthetic constraints.

OFFCUTS

Detect, cut, and reuse offcuts automatically! Define the minimum size of the offcuts to detect them and create cutting paths automatically.

FILLERS

Incorporate recurring parts as fillers to fill up the remaining space on your nesting sheets. This will enable you to produce and store frequently used parts, saving time for future projects.

Cut in small pieces the remaining material to simplify manual offcut handling or automatic extraction.

After calculating the first nesting result, it is still possible to:

  • Manually modify part positions
  • Add trajectory jumps (bridges)
  • Modify the lead-in/lead-out point
  • Modify panel numbering (labels)

Easily identify parts, offcuts, and fillers by generating detailed labels for panel projects.

Define label position and orientation for CNC-integrated printers.

SWOOD E-GUIDE

cnc NESTING SOFTWARE

we accelerated the CAM process by 80%

”After using SWOOD, we accelerated the CAM process by 80%, and our operator-related errors were eliminated. Instead of setting up a program, our operators put their energy into processing CNC parts during that time.”
